Sermon

Grace You Can Practice

Acts 2:42–47

"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."
— Acts 2:42

Message Outline

1. Grace is a gift — and a rhythm

  • Devotion is not pressure; it's positioning
  • We don't earn love; we receive love

2. Four practices of the early church

  • Teaching: Scripture shapes reality
  • Fellowship: healing requires connection
  • Breaking bread: grace becomes tangible
  • Prayer: relationship, not performance

3. Small practices, big mercy

  • Don't do everything — choose one next step
  • "Return to grace" beats "try harder"

4. Invitation: receive Jesus, receive grace

  • Cross = forgiveness; Resurrection = hope
  • Holy Spirit = power for everyday life

Authority — Opening worship

Verse 1

Creation knows the voice
That spoke into the void
The breath that brought the dust to life
And sang the stars to form

Verse 2

The darkness fears Your voice
That drove it back before
And though the night is long
I know Your light will drive it back once more

Chorus

One word from You
Things change on Your authority
Your word it's true
Things change on Your authority

Verse 3

My fight is not my own
Its end is in your hands
I worship You because I know all things
Must bow to Your command

Bridge 1

Will heaven not prevail
And strongholds not be moved
Will spirits not be silenced
And cower at His rule
For if my God is for me
Then what have I to fear
And I will not deny Him
The glory that is His

Bridge 2

Heaven will prevail
And strongholds will be moved
Spirits will be silenced
And cower at His rule
I know my God is for me
So what have I to fear
For nothing will deny Him
The glory that is His

Holy Ground — Opening worship

Verse 1

Here as we wait seek Your face
Come and make Your throne upon our praise
Here in this place have Your way
The moment that we see You we are changed

Chorus

Show us Your glory
Show us Your glory
In wonder and surrender we fall down
Show us Your glory
Show us Your glory
Let ev'ry burning heart be holy ground

Interlude

Holy ground

Verse 2

Here not by pow'r not by might
But only by the cross we come alive
Here we're undone overcome
By Heaven's love revealed before our eyes

Bridge

Chains fall fear bow here now
Jesus You change ev'rything
Lives healed hope found here now
Jesus You change ev'rything

Heal Our Land — Opening worship

Verse 1

You take our lives
Flawed yet beautiful
Restore refine
Lord You're merciful
Redeem revive

Chorus

Spirit of God breathe on Your church
Pour out Your presence speak through Your word
We pray in ev'ry nation Christ be known
Our hope and salvation Christ alone

Verse 2

New pow'r new wine as divisions fall
One church one Bride Jesus Lord of all
With one voice we cry

Bridge

So God we pray to You
Humble ourselves again
Lord would You hear our cry
Lord will You heal our land
That ev'ry eye will see
That ev'ry heart will know
The One who took our sin
The One who died and rose
(Repeat)
And when Your kingdom comes
And when at last You call
We'll rise to worship You alone

Come Alive (Dry Bones) — Offering song · Key C

Verse 1

Through the eyes of man it seems
There's so much we have lost
As we look down the road
Where all the prodigals have walked
And one by one the enemy
Has whispered lies and led them off as slaves

Verse 2

But we know that You are God
Yours is the victory
We know there is more to come
That we may not yet see
So with the faith You've given us
We step into the valley unafraid

Chorus

We call out to dry bones come alive come alive
We call out to dead hearts come alive come alive
Up out of the ashes let us see an army rise
We call out to dry bones come alive

Verse 3

God of endless mercy God of unrelenting love
Rescue ev'ry daughter bring us back the wayward sons
And by Your spirit breathe upon them
Show the world that You alone can save
You alone can save

Bridge

Breathe oh breath of God
Now breathe oh breath of God
Breathe oh breath of God now breathe
(Repeat)

Ending

We call out to dry bones come alive

New Wine — Closing song · Key B♭

Verse

In the crushing in the pressing
You are making new wine
In the soil I now surrender
You are breaking new ground
(You are breaking new ground)

Pre-Chorus

So I yield to You and to Your careful hand
When I trust You I don't need to understand

Chorus

Make me Your vessel make me an offering
Make me whatever You want me to be
God I came here with nothing
But all You have given me
Jesus bring new wine out of me

Tag

Jesus bring new wine out of me
Jesus bring new wine out of me

Bridge

'Cause where there is new wine
There is new power
There is new freedom
And the kingdom is here
I lay down my old flames
To carry Your new fire today
